Freight Cost Analyst

Main responsibilities:
- Manage portfolio claims to ensure: time bars are not missed, meaningful responses are provided to counterparties, negotiation is taken on, and claims are closed in time
- Calculate, prepare, and verify freight, contract shipping expenses and demurrage claims/invoices
- Investigation and collation of the facts and data to fully assess each demurrage claim
- Negotiating disputes via email, fax, telephone or face-to-face.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with 3rd parties and leveraging these relationships for negotiation
- Manage complex negotiations with external counterparties
- Appropriately assign costs to relevant benches to ensure accurate profits and losses are reflected
- Provide detailed analytical assessments of outstanding claims/costs to trading benches and commodity risk
- Process improvement
Required skills:
- Degree in Economics or Finance
- At least 3–4 years of experience in finance, trading, or shipping
- Fluent English
- Knowledge about the trading or shipping industry or physical oil environment
- Commercial instinct
- Negotiation skills
- Stakeholder management
- Strong analytical & technical skills (MS Office / MS Teams)
- Multinational work experience is an advantage
